Information Sheet For Visa Applicants

The Embassy of the Republic of the Union Myanmar in Manila is pleased to announce the following new visa information for applicants who whith to visit Myanmar for various reasons.


Types of Visa

The Embassy of the Republic of the Union Myanmar in Manila will issue the following types of visa if applicants could be presented the required documents with effect from 11 January 2016;

Processing Time

The Visa Section will open from Monday to Friday except Public Holidays and Weekends. The Visa processing times are as follow;

Application - (9:00)hrs to (12:00)hrs
Collection - (13:00)hrs to (16:30)hrs

The Visa will be issued within 3 working days if all required documents could be presented.


Visa Fee

The Embassy accepts only US Dollar for all types of Visa services and after the Embassy informed its approval, need to deposit at the Bank of China at the following address, account name and number:-

  1. Original Passport Valid for at least 6 months
  2. Duly-filled Application form
  3. Diplomatic Note or Official note
  4. Two recent colour photos(3.5x4.5cm white background)

Official Visa

  1. Original Passport Valid for at least 6 months
  2. Duly-filled Application form
  3. Letter Invitation or Recommendation from the Focal Ministry in Myanmar
  4. Registration(for INGOs, NGOs residing in Myanmar)
  5. Two recent colour photos(3.5x4.5cm white background)
  6. Visa fee - (50)US$

Tourist Visa

  1. Original Passport Valid for at least 6 months
  2. Duly-filled Application form
  3. Flight Ticket/ Itinerary
  4. Hotel Reservation in Myanmar
  5. Package Tour Groups visa applicants require a confirmation letter from their respective land operator registered company under Myanmar Company Act.
  6. Two recent colour photos (3.5x4.5cm white background)
  7. Visa fee - (40)US$

Business Visa

  1. Original Passport Valid for at least 6 months
  2. Duly-filled Application form
  3. Invitation letter from a company Registered under Myanmar Company Act with validity
  4. Recommendation Letter from a Company Registered in Philippines
  5. Two recent colour photos (3.5x4.5cm white background)
  6. Visa fee - (50)US$

Employment Visa

  1. Original Passport Valid for at least 6 months
  2. Duly-filled Application form
  3. Recommendation Letter from a Relevant Government Agencies
  4. Labour Registration
  5. Tax Payment Record
  6. Two recent colour photos (3.5x4.5cm white background)
  7. Visa fee - (50)US$

Social Visa

  1. Original Passport Valid for at least 6 months
  2. Duly-filled Application form
  3. Evidence of Ex-Myanmar Citizenship (Copy of National ID Card etc.)
  4. Evidence of Relationship with Myanmar Citizen (Require to submit Notary of Marriage/ Birth Certificate with DFA's Authentication Certificate)
  5. Address in Myanmar (Form 10)
  6. Two recent colour photos (3.5x4.5cm white background)
  7. Visa fee - (50)US$

Religious Visa

  1. Original Passport Valid for at least 6 months
  2. Duly-filled Application form
  3. Invitation or Request Letter from a Meditation Center recognized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Myanmar (forMeditators)
  4. Invitation or Request Letter from Ministry of Religious Affairs of Myanmar
    (For visitors engaging in religious activity)
  5. Flight Ticket/ Itineray
  6. Two recent colour photos (3.5x4.5cm white background)

Education Visa

  1. Original Passport Valid for at least 6 months
  2. Duly-filled Application form
  3. Letter of Acceptance/ Invitation Form a University/ College in Myanmar
  4. Letter Recommendation from a University/ College under the Ministry of Education of Myanmar
  5. Two recent colour photos (3.5x4.5cm white background)
  6. Visa fee - (50)US$

Journalist Visa

  1. Original Passport Valid for at least 6 months
  2. Duly-filled Application form
  3. Recommendation Letter from a concerned Media Agency
  4. Media registration (for journalist operating in Myanmar)
  5. Invitation/ Approval from esteemed Ministry in Myanmar
  6. Two recent colour photos (3.5x4.5cm white background)
  7. Visa fee - (50)US$

Crew Visa

  1. Original Passport Valid for at least 6 months
  2. Duly-filled Application form
  3. Invitation letter of Domestic Airline (for crew working at Myanmar Airlines)
  4. Airline registration (for crew working at Myanmar Airlines)
  5. Request Letter from concerned country (for crew on VIP/Special Aircrafts)
  6. Approval Letter from relevant Ministry of Myanmar (for crew on VIP/ Special Aircrafts)
  7. Two recent colour photos (3.5x4.5cm white Background)
  8. Visa fee - (50)US$

Workshop/ Seminar/ Meeting /Research Visa

  1. Original Passport Valid for at least 6 months
  2. Duly-filled Application form
  3. Invitation or Approval letter from relevant Ministry of Myanmar

Transit Visa

  1. Original Passport Valid for at least 6 months

Additional Information for Visitors

Visa Exemption for Citizens of ASEAN Countries

The Embassy wishes to inform that ordinary passport holders of following ASEAN countries are granted visa exemption for 14 days.

(a) Laos PDR
(b) Vietnam
(c) The Philippines
(d) Cambodia
(e) Indonesia
(f) Brunei Darussalam
(g) Thailand (for air arrival only)
(h) Singapore (30 days)

Terms and Conditions for the Chinese Tourists to Apply for Visa on Arrival

  • The Chinese tourist holding Chinese Ordinary Passport are allowed Visa on Arrival at Yangon International Airport, Mandalay International Airport and Nay Pyi Taw International Airport within one appointed year, from 1st October 2018 to 30th September 2019.
  • US$ 50 per person for Visa on Arrival fee will be collected and allowed to stay (30) days.
  • It is allowed only Tourist Visa for the purpose of visit.
  • It is not allowed for the Visa extension.
  • The Chinese Ordinary Passport holders-
    • Must obey the Myanmar’s existing law and procedures
    • Can visit around the permitted areas freely except from the restricted areas within the country.
    • Can be rejected the entry permit if the tourist is not allowed by the immigration
    • Can depart from any international gateways

Remarks:   US$ 1000 in cash as ‘show money’ upon arrival will no longer need to display/present at the International Airports.

Terms and Conditions for the Japanese Tourist to Apply for Visa Exemption

 

  • Japanese tourists holding Ordinary Passport are allowed Visa Free within one pointed year, from 1st October 2018 to 30th September 2019.
  • They are allowed to enter Myanmar through International Gateways such as Yangon International Airport, Mandalay International Airport, Nay Pyi Taw International Airport and Yangon Seaport as well as through Myanmar-Thailand Land Border Checkpoints such as Tachileik, Myawaddy, Kawthaung,Htee Kee, Myanmar India Land Border Checkpoints such as Tamu and Rihkawdar.
  • It is allowed only Tourist Visa for the purpose of visit.
  • Tourist Visa is allowed Japanese Tourists holding ordinary passports to enter Myanmar and stay (30) days. It is not allowed for the Visa extension.
  • The Japanese Ordinary Passport holders:-
    • Must obey the Myanmar’s existing law and procedures
    • Can visit around the permitted areas freely except from the restricted areas within the country
    • Can be rejected the entry permit if the tourist is not allowed by the immigration
    • Can depart from any international gateways

Remarks:   US$ 1000 in cash as ‘show money’ upon arrival will no longer need to display/present at the International Airports.

Terms and Conditions for the Tourist from the Republic of Korea to Apply for Visa Exemption

  • Korean tourists holding Ordinary Passport of the Republic of Korea are allowed Visa Free within one appointed year from 1st October 2018 to 30th September 2019.
  • They are allowed to enter Myanmar through International Gateways such as Yangon International Airport, Mandalay International Airport, Nay Pyi Taw International Airport and Yangon International Seaport as well as through Myanmar-Thailand Land Border Checkpoints such as Tachileik, Myawaddy, Kawthaung, Htee Kee; Myanmar-India Land Border Checkpoints such as Tamu and Rikhwdar.
  • It is allowed only Tourist Visa for the purpose of visit.
  • Tourist visa is allowed Korean Tourists holding ordinary passports of the Republic of Korea to enter Myanmar and stay (30) days. It is not allowed for the visa extension.
  • The Ordinary Passport holders of the Republic of Korea-
  1. Must obey the Myanmar’s existing law and procedures
  2. Can visit around the permitted areas freely except from the restricted areas within the country
  3. Can be rejected the entry permit if the tourist is not allowed by the immigration
  4. Can depart from any international gateways

Remarks:   US$ 1000 in cash as ‘show money’ upon arrival will no longer need to display/present at the International Airports.
